Meet the Team
Kari Day, MS,NCC,LPC,RPT™
Kari is the owner of New Day Counseling & Play Therapy, LLC and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™). She has worked in the field of mental health and social services for 17 years, and has been a LPC for 11 years.
Kari holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health from the University of Hawaii and a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu. She was born and raised in Lander, and returned 10 years ago to serve her community.
Kari has experience as both a therapeutic and school counselor. She is passionate about using play based and expressive art techniques, as well as EMDR. Her education and years of experience provide a wide skill set in working with ages across the lifespan.
Her approach is supportive and person/child centered, with a passion for meeting all where they are at.
Jamie Bernard, MS
Jamie is an integral part of our caring team and is a Certified Mental Health Worker, currently working within her 6 month grace period. She utilizes evidence based therapeutic approaches to help individuals and families navigate their challenges. As a Certified Mental Health Worker, Jamie does not act as the primary provider or diagnose, and is under the direct supervision of Kari Day. She is passionate in working alongside clients to empower them to gain emotional well-being and increase their quality of life.
Jamie has been an educator for the past 23 years and brings extensive knowledge and experiences to New Day Counseling & Play Therapy. Her diverse educational experience includes classroom teaching, special education, and multiple grade levels. She is trained in cooperative learning strategies, cooperative play, and working with diverse teams to reach common goals.
Jamie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (Pre-K-12th grade) and in Elementary Education, as well as a Master's of Science degree in Mental Health and Wellness. She also earned her National Board Certification in Early Childhood Generalist.
Chelsea Kearl, MSW, PCSW
Chelsea has her Masters in Social Work (MSW) and is currently provisionally licensed as a clinical social worker (PCSW). She has worked in a variety of settings helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds for the past 8 years. She grew up in Fremont County and is excited for the opportunity to serve her community.
Chelsea graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Masters Degree in Social Work. Through her education, she has been able to work with individuals, groups, families, and among the school setting. She is passionate about understanding individual’s environments and building on their strengths to promote resiliency and build skills for future success.
Chelsea has experience providing services for all ages and recently worked within the school district to offer individual and group counseling. She recognizes that each person is unique and will require different therapeutic approaches, which is why she offers an integrated approach in her practice. This approach allows her to utilize concepts from various models such as cognitive behavioral therapy to support each person and meet them where they are at so they can be successful.
Chelsea is under the supervision of Kari Day, LPC, RPT, owner and provider of New Day Counseling & Play Therapy.
